Logbook

Day 1

You meet a member of the Sun Sea team with whom you meet your prestigious 43-foot Leopard Powercat motor catamaran.
At 5:00 pm, you embark for your first night on board. Tonight, you have two options: you can spend the night at the Marina du Marin or at the Pointe Borgnèse anchorage.
Once moored, you can celebrate the beginning of this new adventure and enjoy your cocktail dinner basket composed by our prestigious partner. Creative products and recipes that honor local products and homemade drinks with Martinique flavors.

Day 2

This morning, you head to the Atlantic coast of Martinique, towards Le François for a guided tour of the A1710 distillery. Dive into the fascinating world of rum by observing all the stages of its manufacture. From the harvest of the organic cane field to the Habitation du Simon, through the pressing in the traditional mill, the distillation in our copper still “La Belle Aline” and the aging in the cellar, you discover how A1710 rums are made. The tour continues after a refreshing break in the shady park facing the “Ilets of François”, with a tasting of our great vintages in the living rooms of the main house, with its remarkable colonial architecture. At noon, the “table d’hôtes” of the Maison of “Ilet Oscar” welcomes you to (re)discover the local cuisine in an exceptional setting. This afternoon, the famous Josephine’s Bathtub awaits you for a moment of relaxation! This evening, you sleep at “Ilet Long”, a peaceful site perfect for relaxation and a change of scenery.

Day 3

Today, discover the Clément House, a place of memory classified as a historical monument, during a guided tour. Discover the garden, a real open-air museum, permanently exhibiting works of art acquired by the Clément Foundation, as well as the 18th century house, restored and refurnished in its original style. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of tropical living and to discover the traditional architecture and furnishings of a large Creole house. Then enjoy a unique Premium Old Rums Masterclass including a visit of the cellars with the cellar master, a private tasting and a food pairing in a privileged space with Claire-Marie K’Fée K’Nelle’s cooking. Then head for the “Ilets du Robert”, several stops and swims are planned in the middle of this unique setting between “Ilets and Fonds Blancs”: at “Ilet la Grotte” and “Ilet Chancel” where you can visit the remains of an old pottery, a colony of endemic iguana and a splendid mangrove.

Day 4

After breakfast, you meet your driver for a day trip in the north of the island. Visit the Distillery and the St-James house in the commune of Sainte-Marie, with its very rich museographic spaces. The former is housed in a very elegant Creole house dating from 1875 and has been carefully restored, while the latter occupies an old wine storehouse and has an impressive collection of distillation columns and stills. At the end of the visit, a tasting will be offered to you in the main house. Then you continue your discovery of Martinique rums with the visit of the JM Distillery in Macouba. Emblematic and in a sumptuous green setting, this visit takes in all the stages of rum production but above all offers a very playful olfactory workshop that will allow you to become fully aware of the specificities and aromas of each rum produced by the JM distillery. The visit ends at the tasting room! Continue your adventure in the north by going to the Village of “Grand Rivière”: the road leading to it is particularly beautiful and the village seems out of time with its narrow streets and colorful houses. At noon, you have lunch at “Tante Arlette’s”, a real institution in “Grand Rivière” especially for its seafood dishes! After lunch, you cross the rainforest and take a refreshing break in the “Saut Gendarme” waterfall before reaching Saint Pierre to enjoy a magnificent sunset in its harbor.

Day 5

Nicknamed the Little Paris, the Paris of the Islands or the Pearl of the West Indies, you wake up in the harbor of St-Pierre, city of art and history. When the weather is good, you will be able to admire the majestic Mount Pelée. This morning, you visit this city full of history with a guide who shows you, among other things, the remains of the 1902 eruption. You also visit the memorial of the 1902 disaster, the Franck A. Perret Museum. Then the visit continues with the Depaz house: discover the history of the Depaz family and this beautiful house. The large house allows you to get an idea of the daily life of the planters before the war: living rooms, dining room, smoking room or office are furnished with period furniture. At noon, you have lunch at the restaurant “Le Moulin à Cannes”, a former cattle mill that has been nicely restored and offers a superb view of the sea and Mount Pelee and a delicious refined cuisine. This afternoon, we take you to Fond Boucher, a superb cove accessible only by sea! A perfect spot to observe the underwater fauna with mask and snorkel. At sunset head for Fort-de-France for a tasting workshop to discover hand-picked vintages in the House of Rhums store at the foot of the Lumina Tower.

Day 6

Welcome to the main town, Fort de France! This morning you wake up in one of the most beautiful bays in the world: “la baie des Flamants”. This morning, you enjoy a guided tour that makes you discover the main sites of the city center but also the Garden of Balata which will amaze you with its unique collection of plants from all over the world collected during the numerous trips of its creator. You have lunch at the restaurant The Yellow, a real haven of peace in the heart of Fort-de-France, which offers a creative and refined cuisine. Then, you go looking out for turtles at the Dufour Cove, a small cove with turquoise waters, golden sand and fishermen’s huts. At the end of the day, direction the Black Cove for an evening in this small peaceful black sand beach, lined with coconut palms, skiffs and nets of fishermen, perfect to rest. Thierry Lauzéa, join you on board for an exceptional moment: Rum and Chocolate Masterclass!

Day 7

For your last day on board, we have concocted a day dedicated to nautical activities.
This morning, head for Grande-Anse, a long and beautiful golden sand beach, lined up with coconut trees, small houses and restaurants. It is one of the few beaches where you can see fishes almost at the water’s edge, not to mention turtles just off the shore. Seabob, towed buoy, snorkeling or scuba diving, there is something for everyone!
After lunch, you go to the village of “Anses d’Arlet”. You have the opportunity to visit the unavoidable village and its church elected 2nd favorite village of the French in 2020. A few meters from the water’s edge, an emerging rock shelters a crowd of small multicolored fish. Ideal for an observation with mask and snorkel.
Then head for Sainte-Anne, admire the famous Diamond Rock, before enjoying your last evening on board at Sainte-Anne, one of the most popular anchorages in Martinique.
This evening, our chef comes on board to serve you Rum Tasting Menu with local flavors revisited.

Day 8

It is now 9:00 am, your cruise is over. It’s time to take all these wonderful memories with you and meet up with a member of the Sun Sea team at the Marina du Marin.
